I have to highlight this film because it is an incredibly important one. I bought the book the second it was released and I now own a second copy because of how many times I read the first to the point it's a bit past salvaging. The book is incredible and contains one of the best depictions of a Jewish figure in WWII Germany I've ever seen. Max is such a well-rounded character that you see him as more than just a Jew hiding from the Nazis and constantly suffering. You feel his life story, you admire his struggle, and you adore his admiration for Liesel and the bond their form. The book is masterpiece, and while the film takes a few liberties and waters down the story a fair bit, it is still an important film worth watching. If you ever get the chance to read the book, PLEASE DO! If you get the chance to watch this, do so as well :)
