I've been feeling hopeless and depressed. It's like I'm stuck in a rut. Therapy doesn't seem to be helping enough. My psychiatrist doesn't want to up my meds even though I think I need it. I don't want to go on like this.
I've done CBT and it helped with some things. But I seriously need the meds every day. Can I ask what you take and what dose?Thank you @lavalamp. My psychiatrist wants me to go to a DBT group. I'm willing to give it a try but I still feel like I need meds too. I have a therapist I see once a week but it doesn't feel like enough. Thank you for the hugs!
Sorry, somehow didn't see this before. Yeah, taking things one day at a time is good too.I suppose the DBT is worth a try. I always think with mental health you just have to keep trying things until you find what works for you.
The other thing that has helped me is just taking things slowly, one day at a time. xx
I'm willing to give it a try.Okay, so she's not saying to do DBT instead of the meds, but along with them. I think it's a good idea to give DBT a try and then
see if the meds still need to be increased or not.
I'm willing to give it a try.
You're right, everything is a learning experience. That's good to hear - if it doesn't help at least you can reflect back on what happened and why and use it as a learning experience?

Indeed!Yeah and it’s not easy either! As I’ve found out myself too.
Yes, I do suffer from clinical depression. I’m taking Lamictal and it seems to be helping somewhat and I’m okay with taking it. I do meditate as well though, which I find to be very helpful. The feeling of hopelessness is a symptom of clinical depression. If you are already under medication and if you do not want to take more medicines, you can switch to alternative therapy such as meditation and yoga.
Good to know!If you want to treat depression with meditation, I suggest you try mindful meditation. Mindful meditation is a Buddhist meditation practice where you are suggested to be mindful of the sensation arising in your body. By watching your sensation, you are taught not to react to your feelings and emotions.
Yes, I do have mental illness. There are three main classes of antidepressants and they all gave me pretty serious side effects when I tried them. So I’m on a mood stabilizer instead because it’s better than nothing. What is running in your mind isn't normal, you aren't suffering from health deficiency that doesn't have cure. If it's a psychological issue, or mental illness, you can definitely go further to get another med who is a specialist in his or her field to guide you if your current one isn't helping you out as you wanted.
