Feel uncomfortable with video calls

TLDR: Feel uncomfortable with video calls
In the forum thread, Gooner_87 expresses discomfort with participating in a video call for a workmate's birthday celebration, despite not wanting to let the birthday person down. Catsmother empathizes with Gooner_87's discomfort and suggests an alternative of a phone call, reassuring him that it's not selfish to avoid situations that cause anxiety. Gooner_87 reveals that his colleagues are aware of his mental health struggles, but not specifically his discomfort with video calls. Catsmother encourages him, believing that his friends would understand his situation. Additionally, mist interjects with a humorous comment about not receiving similar efforts for their birthday, indicating a feeling of being overlooked, but maintains a light-hearted tone. The thread touches on themes of social anxiety, peer support, and the importance of accommodating individual comfort levels in social interactions.
I've got a dilemma, its a workmates birthday on Saturday and someone is arranging a zoom meeting for him to celebrate with all his mates both in and out of work. We will be given 15min time slots I don't want to let him down but I'm really not comfortable with video calls even though we obviously know each other and get on quite well I feel so uncomfortable about the thought of it and its putting me off the idea however I really don't want to let him down
