I can empathise as I had to work away frequently when I was a training manager for a video rental company. I worked all over the country and some places were OK whilst others were horrendous. It's searching for that light at the end of the tunnel where you can see your way home.
The best place I had to work in, back in the day (I have no idea what it will be like now) was Hull. I really enjoyed my stay there. The worst place was Ipswich, I couldn't wait to leave there.
It's unsettling to be away from your family and familiar surroundings, but if it's your work, then you're doing it as much for your family as for yourself, so take comfort and some pride in the efforts you are making to ensure their comfort and happiness; you're a good family man Lee.

. Glad you get some quality time with the wife and kids
