1 medium head red cabbage, shredded
2 medium apples, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt

In a soup pot, combine all ingredients and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 40 to 50 minutes, or until cabbage is tender.
