Lancaster County Crumb Cake
SERVES TEN TO FIFTEEN

Cake:
from Midsummer melody, Tales from Grace Chapel Inn
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 pint sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla

Topping:

1 1/2 cups butter
4 cups sifted flour
2 cups sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon
Confectioner's sugar

Cake: Mix all ingredients in order with electric mixer. Spread in greased rectangular pan or cookie sheet (10" x 14" with lip is good).

Topping:

Melt and cool butter. Mix dry ingredients, add cooled butter, and mix gently by hand. Do not overwork; mixture should be crumbly. Spread on top of cake batter.
Bake at 360 degrees for thirty to thirty-five minutes. Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar.
