Internet Browsing

TLDR: Internet Browsing
In a forum thread discussing preferred devices for browsing and typing, participants shared a variety of preferences based on convenience, comfort, and functionality. Here are the key points: 1. **Device Preferences**: - **Desktop**: Preferred by users like PGen98, loneliness, Pitszal, Dave, and NerdiestKen for its ergonomic setup, including mechanical keyboards and dual monitors, which accommodate larger hands and provide ample screen real estate. - **Laptop**: Favored by Catsmother, Lee, willowtigger, and Kyng for its versatility and mobility. Some users, like Lee, mention using convertible laptops that can also function as tablets. - **Mobile Devices**: Used by Ozzy47, Shyguy1, and Jay™, especially when traveling or for casual browsing outside of work. Mobile devices are noted for their convenience but criticized by some users like willowtigger for issues with autocorrect and smaller keyboards. - **Tablet**: Mentioned by users like safeinsanity and internetking as an alternative for browsing, though not as commonly preferred. 2. **Usage Context**: - Users like Ozzy47 and Shyguy1 use mobile devices for casual or on-the-go interactions, while desktops or laptops are reserved for more intensive tasks like development work or when needing a more comfortable setup at home. - Jay™ and Dave highlight the use of multiple devices depending on whether they are at home or traveling. 3. **Miscellaneous Insights**: - Autocorrect errors on mobile devices can lead to humorous or problematic text changes, as shared by willowtigger with the word "prosecution" being changed to "prostitution." - Browser preferences also surfaced, with Dave expressing a preference for Chrome and using Safari on his mobile, indicating that software choices are also a factor in user experience. Overall, the thread showcases a range of personal preferences for devices based on ergonomic needs, mobility, and specific use cases, with desktops generally preferred for work-related tasks and mobile devices for convenience and portability.

Desktop for me for sure - I prefer a decent size screen with real estate so I can see everything I need to see. Occasionally, when I'm out I'll use my phone, but it's mainly to check something rather than actual browsing. I had a tablet (well, I still do, it's out on loan) but for the life of me I have no idea why I bought it, as it just became a dust collector lol.

I've tried loads of different browsers, but for some reason I always come back to Chrome as I feel more at home with it. My phone uses Safari.
