Question If recovered, how long?

TLDR: If recovered, how long?
In the forum thread, Lammchen shares their daughter's experience with recovery from an eating disorder. Initially, a psychiatrist estimated a recovery period of six years, which dismayed her daughter. However, she then saw a less traditionally qualified therapist who approached her treatment by focusing on her as a teenager with relationship issues rather than strictly as an eating disorder patient. This method led to her recovery in two years, and she has been well for over a decade since. Lammchen's story highlights the importance of personalized treatment approaches in mental health recovery.
If you are recovered from having an eating disorder, how long did it take you?

My daughter was told by her psychiatrist it would take 6 years. That horrified my daughter because she wanted it gone! She went to a therapist who was not as "qualified" but actually did better for my daughter in that she didn't treat her as an eating disorder patient but instead as a teenager who had problems with relationships. In 2 years she recovered and hasn't turned back since then thankfully. It's been over a decade.
