Drop Date Cookies
14 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 beaten egg
1/4 c. warm water
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
3/4 tsp. soda
14 tsp. salt
1 small pkg. chopped dates
1/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. warm water
1/2 tsp.maple extract
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs, water and vanilla. Sift in dry ingredients. Boil dates with next 3 slowly until cooked. Thicken with cornstarch. Drop dough on cookie sheets. Place some date filling on top. Cover with a dab of dough. Bake at 400F 10-15 min.
