I believe what people perceive as ghosts are demons deceiving them into believing they are souls trapped on Earth, benevolent spirit guides or great Aunt Betty watching over them. Never a good thing to engage with them.
 
I put yes, but I don't believe they are ghosts as such, but memories. A lot of people in these ghost books and stories always say they attempted interaction with the spirit, but nothing came of it. Ignored as if they weren't there. If the place was holding onto memories then we are just watching a movie or hearing it's audio.

I have seen and heard a fair amount in the various places I have worked and lived. I used to do nights in a care home and would often here loud footsteps, see unexplained shadows and here whispered conversations from people that didn't even live in the home. You just got used to it.
