Cream Cheese Frosting

Cream Cheese Frosting
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, room temperature
1/2 stick butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups sifted powdered sugar
In bowl, combine cream cheese, butter and vanilla. Beat with mixer until light and fluffy. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating until smooth. Spread over cooled cake. Sprinkle with chopped nuts, if desired. Cover; store in refrigerator.
Frosts tops of two 8 or 9 inch layers.
