Cherry Sorbet from Gooseberry Patch

We like fresh-picked cherries in this recipe.
6 c. semi-sweet cherries, pitted
1/3 c. sugar
juice of one lemon
Place cherries in a mixing bowl; sprinkle sugar evenly over the top. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Pour mixture into a blender; add lemon juice. Purée until smooth; pour into an ice cream maker. Freeze according to manufacturer's instructions. Makes 4 servings.
