Tom's Friend's Brownies

Tom's Friend's Brownies
3/4 cup butter or margarine
1-1/2 cups sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla
3 eggs
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust salt depending on saltiness of nuts
used)
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup chocolate chips, or to taste
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Using a mixer, cream butter and sugar
together well. Add vanilla and eggs. In a separate bowl, mix together the
flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt, then add to creamed mixture. Stir in
nuts and chocolate chips. Pour into a greased 8 by 8-inch pan. Bake for 35
to 45 minutes, the longer time for more cakey brownies and less time for
fudgy brownies.
