This was the first of the Star Trek movies released, it was pretty good, but not the best. It had a budget of $35,000,000.00 in 1979

Pacing, pacing, pacing. The pacing in this needed lots of work. The script needed work. The concept needed work. The "God Thing" trope of Gene Roddenberry's rears its ugly head again. BUT... It is standing the test of time as a film and is regarded far better today than it was. Bravo for the Jerry Goldsmith score.
