At times the stuff he is saying reminds me of the Micheal Martin Murphy-penned song "Boy from the Country." The song describes a boy who is outcast because talks to animals, says we should love the land, has visions of auras around people and animals, sees and hears things that aren't there. Relevant lyric goes:

Because he spoke to fish in the creek...
He tried to tell us, that the animals could speak...
Who knows, perhaps they do
How do you know they don't, just because they've never spoken to you...

He's highly intelligent and well spoken so its obvious he is an educated person. The voices and delusional thoughts are robbing this poor soul of a happy life. This breaks my heart. Three of my inner circle friends have/had brothers with schizophrenia and I've witnessed first hand the trauma this illness causes for them and their loved ones.
