Old-Fashioned Tea Cakes Recipe
1 c. butter, softened
2 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
5 c. flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp soda
1/3 c. milk
1/3 c. (about) orange juice
Cream butter and sugar in bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs; beat
well. Sift flour, baking powder and nutmeg together. Dissolve soda in
milk. Add to creamed mixture alternately with dry ingredients, beating
well after each addition. Stir in enough orange juice to make soft
dough. Roll to desired thickness on floured surface. Cut as desired
and place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at dg350 for 15 minutes or
until light brown. Cool on wire rack. Store in airtight container.
