English Sticky Toffee Pudding
* 6 tbsps butter .
* 1 c all-purpose flour .
* 1 egg .
* cake .
* 1/2 tsp baking soda .
* 1/2 tsp baking powder .
* 1 c boiling water .
* 3/4 c pitted dates .
* sauce .
* 1 tsp vanilla extract .
* 3/4 c brown sugar .
* 1/2 c cream .
* 3/4 c dark brown sugar .
* 4 tbsps butter
* Step #1 Directions for Pudding:.
* Step #2 Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
* Step #3 Chop the dates as finely as you prefer (if you like chunks in your cake, keep them bigger, but I usually like small small pieces).
* Step #4 Boil the water & pour over the dates.
* Step #5 Add the baking powder, baking soda, & vanilla extract.
* Step #6 Let soak for about 5 mins or so.
* Step #7 While the dates soak, cream the softened butter & sugar with a mixer (paddle attachment helps).
* Step #8 Add the egg & beat until mixd & smooth.
* Step #9 Add the flour.
* Step #10 Stir in soaked date mixture & mix until mixd.
* Step #11 Place into 8 x 8 (or something similar) greased baking tray & bake for 30-40 mins at 350 degrees.
* Step #12 Toothpick or knife should come out clean when done.
* Step #13 Be sure to check at 30 mins, since oven times may vary.

* Step #15 Melt butter in saucepan.
* Step #16 Add brown sugar & cream, bring to a boil.
* Step #17 Boil for 2-3 mins until texture is slightly fudgy & velvety.

* Step #19 We add the cooled sauce to the top of the cake & warm in microwave for 20 seconds, then top this with a dollop of whipped cream or cool
