I have two of these instruments, they make a very soft, calming sound. I highly recommend getting one to play if you are nervous or feeling low.

I taught myself how to play a few songs @Sweet Ann. Here's a photo of my two kalimbas hanging on the wall...

It works beautifully @SweetAnn. It was made back when things were crafted to last, unlike today where you consider yourself lucky if an appliance lasts ten years. This was an expensive model back in it's day. It has an extra large spring so you could play several records per crank unlike the models you had to wind up each time you wanted to play a record. Here's a better view of it...
