Or have them be around? Do they try to get in on the action? My cats are used to me being on the floor with them, playing, cuddling, etc. So whenever I'm on the floor, they think it's fair game lol They don't realize that sometimes I'm there & it has nothing to do with them! If it's intense exercise, I may move them away. If it's light stretching, I just let them remain there.
