Chocolate Squares

Chocolate Squares

2 oz. bitter chocolate
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
3 eggs
3/4 c. cake flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. nuts
Deluxe Chocolate Frosting:
3 Tbsp. butter
3 oz. bittersweet chocolate
1 3/4 c. sifted confectioners sugar
5 Tbsp. hot milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Melt first 2 together in double boiler. Remove from heat. Beat in sugar. Beat in eggs 1 at a time. Sift flour with baking powder. Add to chocolate mixture. Stir in nuts. Bake in greased pan at 350F 40 min. If desired, top with Deluxe Chocolate Frosting.
Frosting: melt butter and chocolate in a double boiler. Remove from heat. Mix hot milk and sugar until dissolved. Pour into chocolate. Add vanilla. Beat.
