Use real butter in this recipe for melt-in-your-mouth taste.

2 c. butter, softened

1 c. plus 2 T. brown sugar, packed

1 t. vanilla extract

4-1/2 c. all-purpose flour

sugar

Blend butter until fluffy; add brown sugar and vanilla, mixing well. Blend in flour; set aside, uncovered, for 24 hours at room temperature. Roll dough into one-inch balls; roll in sugar. Bake on ungreased baking sheets at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Makes 8 dozen.
