Try this...you’ll be surprised and delighted by the combination!

1/3 c. sugar

1 T. cornstarch

1/8 t. salt

5 c. pears, cored, peeled and sliced

9-inch pie crust

Optional: vanilla ice cream

Mix sugar, cornstarch and salt together; add pear slices and toss to coat. Spread in pie crust; sprinkle with Cheese Topping. Bake on lower oven rack at 425 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes, or until pears are tender. Serve with a scoop of ice cream, if desired. Makes 8 servings.

Cheese Topping:

1/2 c. all-purpose flour

1/4 t. salt

1/2 c. sugar

1/2 c. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

1/4 c. butter, melted

Combine ingredients together until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
