YUMMY BANANA NUT CAKE

YUMMY BANANA NUT CAKE
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 beaten eggs
1 cup mashed bananas
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup chopped nuts
Cream
sugar and shortening. Add salt, vanilla and eggs. Beat well. Add
bananas and buttermilk
alternately. Sift flour and baking soda; mix with rest. Add chopped nuts
and pour
into greased and lightly floured 9 x 13 pan or bundt pan. Bake 30 to 35
minutes in
350 degree oven. Frost with favorite vanilla frosting or combine 1/2 cup
powdered
sugar, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla and 2 to 3 teaspoons milk and drizzle over
cooled cake.
Sprinkle with nuts if desired. Enjoy.
