Homemade Spanish Rice From Arlene

1 cup long-grain rice
2 tsp. bacon drippings, butter or canola oil
1 onion, chopped
1 green pepper, diced
1 can diced tomatoes
1 can tomato sauce or tomato soup
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. Italian seasoning
1 tsp. seasoning salt

Brown rice in bacon drippings, butter or canola oil. After rice is browned,
add rest of ingredients. Mix well. Cover pot and cook till rice is done,
stirring occasionally to prevent scorching. Turn off heat, remove lid, let
stand for 5 minutes before serving.
