2 lbs. cubed beef stew meat
8 ounces sliced mushrooms
1 small onion sliced
1 (0.87 oz) packet brown gravy mix
1 cup beef broth
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon minced garlic
For serving: egg noodles, rice or mashed potatoes; fresh parsley

SLOW COOKER METHOD:

1. Place mushrooms and onion in a slow cooker. Sprinkle beef with salt and pepper. In a large skillet, heat 1 teaspoon oil over medium-high heat; brown
meat in batches, adding additional oil as needed. Transfer meat to slow cooker.
2. Add gravy mix, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce and garlic to the slow cooker. Cook, covered, on low 6-8 hours or until meat is tender.
3. Serve with noodles, rice or mashed potatoes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired.

OVEN BAKED METHOD:

2. Sprinkle beef with salt and pepper. In a large oven-proof Dutch oven or skillet, heat 1 teaspoon oil over medium-high heat; brown meat in batches, adding

3. Place all of the browned meat into the Dutch oven or into a large casserole dish. Add mushrooms, onion, gravy mix, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce
and garlic. Cover and bake for about 4 hours, or until beef is tender. Remove from the oven, stir, and allow to rest for about 20-30 minutes.
4. Serve with noodles, rice or mashed potatoes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired.
