How do you channelize your extreme emotions?

If you are experiencing strong emotions like anger, frustration, pain, etc. how do you channel your emotions. In other words, what do you do to normalize yourself when you are angry, frustrated, feeling excruciating pain, etc. I started writing a long time ago in order to channel my emotions. Some of my best works were written when I was in extreme pain (mental).

Mental pain I tend to try and talk myself out of the 'Cul-de-sac' of torture. Affirmations and distraction. Physical pain can be frightening, also an overlap, panic can become physical and physical pain can become anxiety inducing. Breaking the cycle, writing helps, talking, often merely accepting the situation and acknowledging this happens regularly. I pray too.
